Marble Care and Cleaning

I'm sure you have a marble countertop or object , and for fear of spoiling you have not tried to grope it. Here are some tips for maintaining marble and some formulas for removing stains.

Marble is a stone of exceptional beauty, but also very difficult to care for because of its extreme porosity, so that any liquid will be absorbed quickly spill over. On the other hand, this quality is on our side if we remove the stain quickly.

For normal cleaning simply rub with a cloth moistened in mild soap. Then rinse well and dry.

Sometimes, over time often sprout yellowish stains can be removed by brushing with a mixture of water and vinegar. Note that acids such as vinegar and lemon corrode as fast, so it should be used with caution, rinsing well and drying the marble after using acid on him. If the stain persists acid reapply, scrub and rinse and dry quickly.

Because of its absorbency, often people apply a coat of wax to avoid stains be embedded. If the problem is some stain here we offer some solutions :
  1. For oil stains : scrub with a sponge and liquid dish detergent, let stand for the stain to absorb it. Another option is to rub with hydrogen peroxide diluted with tap water, leave on and wash with mild soap.
  2. For grease stains: clean with a mixture of bleach and White Spain 50% .
  3. For stains of wine and coffee: rub with two teaspoons of borax dissolved in 250 ml of water.
  4. For rust stains: rub with lemon juice and salt, rinse immediately to remove traces of lemon.
  5. For cigarette burns: the only solution is to polish it. A homemade solution polishing is sprinkle a handful of salt and rub with a damp cloth, remove and dry.
  6. For stubborn stains or old rub with a solution of water, bleach and a few drops of ammonia.
