Thousand and one uses of Ammonia I

WOOD FLOORS
To remove the yellowish tinge in floors by wax wash the floor with a mixture of one cup of ammonia per two liters of water. Resting three to five minutes and then scrub it with a plastic scouring pad to lift the old wax. Wipe clean and rinse the floor thoroughly. Ammonia is able to remove the gloss lacquer wax and so is used in furniture stripping tasks.


BATHROOM
To clean mirrors, glass, tiles and joints rub with a cloth soaked in a mixture of ethyl alcohol, water and ammonia in equal parts. They will be clean and shiny.
Soap scum and fat: to remove them from the soak or tub, rub  with a cloth soaked in ammonia diluted with water (one tablespoon of ammonia to one gallon of water).
Brushes, combs, natural and synthetic sponge: soak in a bucket of warm water and a dash of ammonia.

WINDOWS
The windows is fine if you clean with a cloth soaked in ammonia diluted in water (one part ammonia to three parts water). Help remove fingerprints, grease, smog, soot and dust, leaving bright crystals. The blinds also remain as new if they are cleaned with ammonia in the same ratio used for windows. Use a brush to scrub and then rinse with a clean cloth.


CARPET AND UPHOLSTERY
To remove stains on carpets, upholstery and carpets rub with a sponge soaked in a bucket with two gallons of warm water and a cup of ammonia. Back to soak the sponge and squeeze to keep rubbing as many times as necessary until the stain disappears. Leave dry. Also it can be used to clean car upholstery stains and odors.

METALS
Gold and silver jewelry: soaking in a solution of one part ammonia to six parts warm water for one minute. Rinse and dry thoroughly. They will be clean and shiny. Do not use this procedure if the jewelery has glued rhinestones, pearls or jewelry is platinum.
Antique brass: rub with a cloth soaked in a mixture of water, ammonia and ethyl alcohol in equal parts. Rinse, dry and polish them.
Copper and brass objects: rub with a cloth soaked in a mixture of water, ammonia and ethyl alcohol in equal parts. Rinse, dry and polish them. If you add a splash of vinegar to the mix they will be even brighter.

COMPUTERS, KEYBOARDS, MOUSE
Rub with a cloth soaked in ammonia diluted (one part ammonia to six parts water) to remove yellow marks that are formed over time by the use in such devices.
